San Diego DRYER REPAIR - is it heating, but taking much too long?   This can possibly be caused by a clogged or restricted exhaust vent line behind the dryer.    Unhook this at the dryer temporarily to see if it works differently.

However,  there are several other possibilities for a dryer taking too long or not heating at all. Magnetic gas valve coils, thermal sensor, etc.   A dryer that does not heat at all will definitely need service.
 
 

DISHWASHER REPAIR - Diagnosing and repairing dishwasher problems -
Dishwashers have many parts that can become blocked, jammed or clogged.  San Diego has hard water so deposits can build up over time.

It's a good idea to run your dishwasher at least once every 3 weeks,  doing so will prevent problems.

Most dishwashers come standard with an air gap near the kitchen sink to prevent waste water from returning into the washer.  Because it collects bits of waste, the air gap NEEDS to be cleaned REGULARLY.  Remove the cap and cover and check for debris.  This can be cleaned out by yourself with a short length of metal wire.   We do this service often.

Safety tip:   Before making repairs, pull the power plug   Twist off the hot water valve under the sink before working on the water inlet valve or disconnecting the hot water hose or you could cause some serious damage to yourself and your home.

Also, the machines spray arms may not be turning.    Make sure nothing is obstructing the spray arm from spinning. Check that spray arm turns freely by hand.  Also,  you must check the holes on top of the spray arm, if they are all clogged up, clean them out.

We recommend use of JET-DRY in dishwashers,  especially Bosch.

For FISHER and PAYKEL dishwashers,  do not overload them to where the lid might not close all the way.   If water splashes out,  you will destroy the lower lid kit actuators,   or maybe even worse,  the computer board or other expensive electronic parts.

WASHER - for household and commercial washing machines - remember to replace those rubber inlet hoses every 4 to 7 years to prevent major flood damage.   Stainless steel hoses are much stronger, less maintenance, and are highly recommended by Econo Appliance Service.    Try not to overload the washer - it can not only cause premature failures,  but really diminishes the quality of the wash.

If your washers manual recommends the use of high efficiency detergent (like Kenmore Calypso for example) then be sure to do so!

OVEN -      Use self-clean AFTER any major cooking events,  not before,  because use of self-cleaning can cause failure in oven components.

If the oven has been on,  be sure not to drop any liquids on the glass - even a drop of butter (for example) can crack the glass if hot.   We can replace this glass and we can give you an estimate over the phone if you provide the model number.

Make sure to keep the door gaskets clean - sticky residue can pull the gasket apart each time you open the door,  eventually allowing cold air to escape.     One problematic section is at the bottom of the refrigerator,   where things like juice, syrup, blood, sauces,  can accumulate and cause gasket sticking.

Keep the condenser clean and unobstructed.   A dirty condenser can negatively effect the refrigerator temperature,  it can cause the refrigerator to run longer (higher electrical bill),  and can shorten the compressors life expectancy.
